I Don’t Need Your Pervasive Stare.
Motivation to go to the gym is hard enough already without this unpleasant distraction.
Have you ever been at the gym and noticed a certain person who won’t stop staring at you? Unfortunately, it’s becoming a common theme for me and almost enough to prevent me from going altogether.
Yesterday, as I was trying to focus on my squats, a couple of girls were opposite me, sat on the gym floor, and blatantly staring at me the whole time. This was offputting, to say the least, and I had to fight every temptation not to go over there, tell them to stop staring, and actually do some exercise.
I proceeded to use the squat rack for about twenty minutes. The whole time, they were just staring. Maybe I had something on my face, or my form was so shocking, but I don’t think any of that was true.
My motivation to go to the gym is low, which gives me an extra excuse to skip it altogether. It may sound trivial, but I have anxiety. I already find the gym environment anxiety-inducing anyway, so this was far from ideal, but not the only occasion I have been a subject of fascination.
