I agree with most of what you're saying here - and think it's incredibly frustrating that the first response to women in politics in particular always tends to revolve about what she's wearing etc. Though strangely, as a woman, I still find myself thinking like this too. Maybe it's so ingrained in our culture? I don't know.
But yes, more people are going to read an article about what someone is wearing rather than their political history - it is an unfortunate fact of our reduced attention spans. But how do we change that?
